Day 2 on the Thomas Fire was not as catastrophic as the night before but once the wind began to blow about 4pm along Hy 150 east of Ojai and along Creek Road, which is a cutoff that connects Hy 150 to Hy 33 just above Casitas Springs. Two dozers working the creaked trying to keep the fire from spreading north almost got trapped and barely escaped. Major intensity when the fire blew across the road and headed towards High Country Estates.
Houses lost up there even before I could circle around to their location. Then the most amazing thing happened. The fire had cut across Hy 33 just below Foster Park earlier and headed west along a steep ridge in the direction of Red Mountain. But when the wind picked up the fire shifted south and by the time I was heading home, flames were just about to cross Hy 101. Not sure what will be in store for tomorrow,
